According to a survey by the Japan Tourism Agency, the uppermost inconvenience for foreign travelers are ‘lack of free Wi-Fi’, ‘communication’, and ‘difficulty figuring out public transportation routes to destinations’. In preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, Tokyu Corporation is engaged in a variety of endeavors to assist inbound visitors. In an effort to meet the above-mentioned visitor needs, they have joined with TOKYO FM and another company to undertake “VISIT SHIBUYA BUS – SUMMER PROMOTION.”
The promotion includes operation of the tour bus for VISIT SHIBUYA BUS complete with an English audio tour and Wi-Fi, all free of charge. In addition to shuttling visitors to popular tourism locales such as Omotesando and Roppongi, the promotion assists foreign tourists wandering about the city by distributing walking maps and providing free Wi-Fi service while they are riding the bus.
Anyone who downloads tickets from the site listed below is eligible to ride the bus for the duration of the promotion.
Tokyu Corporation has also created a Shibuya PR Book to introduce the appeal of the Shibuya area. This convenient booklet allows users to discover at-a-glance various facts, places to see, popular establishments, and the future vision for Shibuya, which is the number-one most visited spot in Tokyo by foreign travelers. Shibuya station itself boasts the third highest ridership worldwide, and the area is one of the most exciting attractions in Tokyo, featuring a concentration of movie and theatrical theaters, as well as clubs with live music (called ‘live-houses’ in Japan).
